Comfy Casual

If you’re like me, picking out clothes in the morning can be the most fun and yet annoying part of the day. Do you start with the shoes, the shirt, the pants, or the accessories? I tend to find one item, whatever it may be, and work my entire outfit around that piece.  Today I felt the need to be comfy, but instead of letting myself indulge in the sin of throwing on sweats and a tee, I made myself put on actual clothes.

I started with my focus piece, a classic grey crewneck sweatshirt from J.Crew, this being the little amount of comfort I allotted myself, and took the outfit from there. Like I mentioned earlier, dressing down was not an option, so I paired the sweatshirt with a blue button down with a white collar, a J.Crew item as well.

My new Gap slim fit jeans worked perfectly for what I was going for. They have about 1-2% elasticity in them so they hold their fit throughout the day, yet they have a great classic denim feel. No bagging and sagging, but still a comfy addition to the wardrobe and this outfit in particular!

Dune London black Chelsea boots to finish things up, and my Daniel Wellington to bring it all together.

Comfy yet casual, and never at the expense of a well-put together look!

Well, Well, Wellies

Wellies, originally a boot meant for British soldiers on the front line, have become a functional fashion must-have for a large portion of the female population. Men and women both took advantage of these boots for quite some time, but recently we tend to only see them in female wardrobes. Why should men be ashamed to also take part in the functional trend? I'm stumped as well.

Perfect for rainy days, muddy paths, and everything in between, the Hunter Wellies are a necessity and just happen to look swell too.

Charleston seems to flood every time it even drizzles and I’ve found myself almost swimming to class in the high waters. Quality boots with a functional purpose. I needed them and I got them, the Original Wellies to be exact. A great buy!

Enjoy puddle hopping!

Winter Dawns

Some of you may still have snow on the ground and temperatures are probably rising slower than you might like, but here in Charleston, spring is already creeping in on us. Regardless of what the groundhog sees or doesn’t see tomorrow, it was 74° today and the sun was out and brighter than ever.

With warmer days we leave behind our warmer clothes. We pack away our thick coats and winter hats and hope that the wind chill doesn’t make us regret it the second we walk out the front door.

Pants are always an option, but why not wear warmer weather items when you have the chance? I promise myself every winter that the first day the thermometer inches over 70°, I’ll dig deep into my drawers and withdraw the first pair of shorts I see. After months of hibernation, my legs are finally getting to see the light of day.

This morning I went for a February 1st appropriate color scheme. Sticking to my cooler colors, I chose my navy blue short sleeve button-down from Brooks Brothers paired with charcoal 7” inseam Stanton shorts from J.Crew. Nike Killshot 2 sneakers for kicks and Daniel Wellington and KJP for wrist candy.

Here’s hoping for lot of warmer days soon!

Cheers,
